SnowPro Core COF-C03: A Study Plan Built Around the Exam Weighting
The Exam Changed in February
If you started studying for SnowPro Core from a 2025 guide, check the version number. Snowflake launched COF-C03 on 16 February 2026 and retired COF-C02. The new exam is 100 questions in roughly 110 minutes, costs $175, and mixes multiple choice, multiple select and true/false.
Snowflake recommends around six months of real platform use before sitting it. That advice is worth taking seriously, because the questions lean on how features behave, not on definitions you can memorize the night before.
Where the Marks Are
The blueprint was consolidated from six domains to five. The biggest shift is that architecture grew from 25% to 31% of the paper.

31%
Largest domain: AI Data Cloud features and architecture
Here is the full weighting, which is the thing to plan your weeks around.
Features and architecture
31%, the biggest single block
Performance and transformation
21%, querying and optimization
Account management and governance
20%, roles and access control
Loading, unloading, connectivity
18%, stages, COPY, Snowpipe
Data collaboration
10%, sharing and marketplace
Notice what this means. Nearly a third of the exam is architecture: how storage, compute and cloud services separate, what a virtual warehouse does, how caching works. If you only had time to get one area right, it would be that one.
A Study Order That Follows the Weighting
Most people study in the order the documentation lists things. Study in the order the marks are distributed instead.
- 1
Weeks 1-2
Architecture and editions, hands-on in a trial account
- 2
Week 3
Loading and unloading: stages, COPY INTO, Snowpipe
- 3
Week 4
Performance: warehouse sizing, caching, clustering
- 4
Week 5
Governance: roles, grants, masking, sharing
- 5
Week 6
Timed practice papers, then patch weak domains
Spend the first two weeks actually clicking around. Create a warehouse, suspend it, resume it, resize it, and watch what the query history says. Architecture questions get far easier once you have seen a result cache hit with your own eyes.
Why Collaboration Is Small but Not Free
Data collaboration is only 10%, so it tends to get skipped. That is a mistake, because it is also the most self-contained domain. Secure data sharing and the marketplace come down to a short list of rules about who can see what. A few evenings can earn you most of those marks, which is a better return than the last stretch of performance tuning.
The Habit That Separates Passes from Near Misses
Multiple-select questions punish half-knowledge. When a question asks for two correct answers, you need both, so vague familiarity is not enough. When you review practice papers, do not just read the right answer. Write one sentence explaining why each wrong option is wrong.
My own view is that the certification is worth doing for people already working with Snowflake, and worth doing carefully for people who are not. Without hands-on time, it becomes a memory test you may pass but cannot use in an interview.
Next Step
SkyTrainings' Snowflake Training course includes certification prep alongside the hands-on modules on loading, Time Travel, cloning and cost management, so the practice you need before the exam is built in.
